The Editorial Process
Getting my books published has been a real education. I eat, sleep, and drink ideas for weeks, months, or years, and then an editor with a red pen gets to slash, dash, and dismember my beloved masterpiece. If God wanted to teach me a lesson about not taking things personally--He couldn't have found a better way to do it.
My first editor made me cry (oooh, I was a wimp back then), but since that day I have learned to separate what I do from who I am (most of the time) and take myself a little less seriously.
And those editors??? I have learned to love them! They have contributed greatly to the quality of my work. Oh, and the One I love the most is the One who wrote my name in His Book of Life. His edits hurt sometimes--but their purpose is to refine the work He set out to create -- and that work, of course, is ME.
So, okay, Master Editor, get out your red pen and let's get to work!
